Dear Friends of TRAF,
On May 29th, we launched the inaugural Texas Ranger Classic Sporting Clay Tournament in San Antonio, Texas at the National Shooting Complex. The event raised over $97,000.00 benefitting the Texas Ranger Association Foundation (TRAF) and their scholarship program! (Photos from the event may be seen on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TexasRangerClassic )
Lead by a dynamic planning committee consisting of TRAF Board Member
Tommy Schleier, and Chief (Ret.) Hank Whitman, the Classic set the bar very high for future events. "Now that we know just how successful our shoots can be, our vision is to have each TRAF/Ranger Company coordinate a shoot in their region. We'd like to have all the winners from each region come back to San Antonio for a State shoot every year," commented Chief Whitman.
The format for the Texas Ranger Classic was two-fold. Participants were able to shoot in an optional 5-stand competition before and after the main shoot. The tournament itself was a 4-person, 10-station, 100-bird competition. Teams as well as individuals were encouraged to sign up via our website, www.TexasRangerClassic.com . 27 people participated in the 5-stand competition, and over 130 people participated in the team event.
